Company History

The O’Regan Group started in the sand & gravel business over 100 years ago. The founding company opened its first gravel pit in Blarney, Co Cork. The demand for building aggregates at that time was great, business was successful and this led to the development of several other quarries in the Cork region. These quarries produced a wide range of quality construction materials and were heavily involved in large road building programmes in the following decades.

The market demand for high quality building materials grew. The O’Regan Group invested in the construction materials market producing a range of quality concrete building blocks. The production systems of the time were very time-consuming and labour intensive; blocks were produced by hand in single-block moulds.

In the late 1960s the O’Regan Group formed a joint venture with Sisks of Cork and formed O’Regan Precast Ltd. which developed operations in Cork & Dublin. The first automated precast production plant was installed to serve the growing Irish construction market.

In 1978 the group opened a new block-making facility in Coachford, Co Cork and developed facilities in Tipperary, Limerick, Waterford and Clare. This facility was virtually self-sufficient. All the aggregates were quarried and screened on site and fed directly to the batching plants.

The moulds automatically filled, and the blocks cured as they were fed down along the production line.

Current bases of operation are: -

1.     UK: precast blocks, concrete, screeds, mortar, aggregates, shipping, ash, tyre recycling, wood recycling and soils disposal.

2.     Ireland: precast blocks, concrete, screeds, mortar, aggregates, shipping, ash and demolition projects.

3.     Tunisia: Processing and sale of superior silica sand products.
